Question by Deborah V: Help me choose a new name for my business…..Thanks!?
I am an interior designer and my husband and I just relocated to Rhode Island. We are in the process of setting up my business and choosing a new name.

I was originally going to call the business “INTERIORS by the Bay” (we live near the water) but we are going to be working from a small home office until we get established and thought that name sounded like a storefront. Although, we are still considering that possibilty here are our choices to date (we already checked with the local ordinances to make sure these names were available):

1. INTERIOR Transformations

2. INTERIOR Style

3. INTERIORS by the Bay

our tag line for marketing will be ……..the complete interior design source that comes to your door!

I see a lot of commercials on “Going out of business” which is sad btw. Whether it’s on TV or not, small business or big, they seem to happen mostly in January. Why is that so?

This is only a guess, I am not a business or CPA person. I can think of somethings 1st they did not get the sales that they had hoped for over the holidays, end of the year and the figures are dropping, or my personal favorite is that they go out of business all the time. People will start a furniture business and within a few months they are in going out of business phase. The name on the lease, owner and with the state is Joseph Brown, Next time around same group of people new name Jane White (Brown), next time same group of people it is Harry James (brothinlaw) and this goes on it is not a scam but very very close to it. We have a company that has gone out of business 15 times and they are all the same people that work there.

KOTA KINABALU, May 18 (Bernama) — Entrepreneurs in Sabah have been urged to

come up with their own food-based products which can be franchised throughout

the country via the Community Franchise Programme.

In making this call, the Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and

Consumerism Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the community franchise business

had potential for involvement by the low and middle income groups, as well as

those seeking a side income.

“In Sabah, the micro (Franchise Package)is not yet available as we have just

introduced it and we hope that after this, it will expand in the state.

“What I want is for them (entrepreneurs)to on their own develop local

products to be franchised at home first before doing so throughout the country.

“This is because the franchise brought in from the Peninsular does not

sometimes benefit the franchisor…curtailing its expansion,” he added.

Ismail Sabri said this when asked to comment on the level of participation

by entrepreneurs or traders in Sabah in the Community Franchise Programme after

its launch at Taman Putra Jaya in Telipok near here today.

Also present was the Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin

Citing the “burger and soup Sabah” as an example, he said products such as

these could be introduced for the purpose of this business.

He said the government had allocated RM8 million for the Small Franchise

Loans Scheme (SPKF) to assist entrepreneurs enter the franchise business on a

micro basis.

Ismail Sabri said until May 14 this year, there were 144 applications

approved under the SPKF with approved allocations of about RM3.2 million.

In this regard, he asked entrepreneurs in the state to grab business

opportunities by applying for the easy loans without deposits of up to RM50,000

with an annual three per cent interest and payable within five years.

He said from Oct 9 last year to May 14, 2012, nine community franchise

programmes had been held with an investment potential reaching RM66.3 million

with about 619 franchisors.

I bought a car from a guy at his “business”-a little suite in an old building-, and am having trouble with the car. I know his name, and his business address and phone number,and am trying to take him to small claims. The process server I hired has tried to serve him at his business, but he is never there. They are asking for another address. How do you find out a person’s home address?
